Dan Abrams - Lawyer & TV Host
Growing up the son of a successful New York lawyer it was no surprise when following graduation from Duke Dan Abrams would enrol at Columbia Law School. However rather than pursuing a career as a lawyer he would instead become a broadcaster. In this he would prove to be very successful before expanding into a whole series of online ventures. Despite all of his success Dan Abrams is still best known for his work as a television host.
Dan Abrams would get his start in television by covering some of the biggest trials in the country for Court TV. This meant he was covering stories like the Dr. Kevorkian and the Menendez brothers. However he would really see his career take off as the result of the O.J. Simpson trial. This would result in regular appearances on NBC for Abrams and ultimately a full time job. It was his coverage of the Supreme Court hearings following the 2000 presidential election that would provide Abrams with his big break. He would get to host his how show on MSNBC.
The show that Abrams would host on MSNBC would be called the Abrams Report. The main focus of the show not surprisingly given his background was on legal issues. However the show would also be something of a tabloid show as well. The Abrams Report would run for five years before Abrams left to take the job as the General Manager of the network. His appointment for the job seemed an odd choice given that he had no experience running a network. However the ratings would improve dramatically during his tenure. However after a couple of years in management Abrams decided that he wanted to get back on the air.
In 2007 Abrams would return to the air with a show called Verdict with Dan Abrams. This was a show that combined the feel of a newscast with a lot of editorial content as well. The show only lasted about a year before Abrams moved on to a job at NBC. In 2008 Dan Abrams started working as a substitute host for the Today show as well as a legal analyst for NBC news. In 2011 he chose to leave to take on a similar job with ABC.
Hosting a television show is far from the only thing that is going on in Dan Abrams life. He is a very successful entrepreneur mainly with online businesses. He runs a digital media strategy company as well as a network of blogs. This includes some of the most successful blogs on the internet. In addition to this has managed to find the time to become a writer with a regular column in Men's Health magazine as well as regular contributions to newspapers.
